  • To demonstrate that Wiki development and management is so easy that even, A FDLRS MANAGER CAN DO IT!

SAMPLE RFA DESCRIPTION:

During SY 09-10 Region 2 FDLRS centers will collaborate to further expand center staff training and use of Wiki Spaces as a tool for conducting such activities as training follow up, book studies, threaded discussions or posting of updated information on specific training topics.

HISTORY:

Region 2 FDLRS centers began working together in SY 08-09 to explore and promote the use of distance learning options as a viable means of ensuring quality professional development is accessible to all their constituents. This exploration began with a group discussion on the benefit and value of distance learning as well as an opportunity to examine personal beliefs about this approach to teacher training. With agreement among Region 2 centers that distance learning was here to stay, and, a directive from DOE/BEESS to increase delivery of professional development through distance learning, Region 2 agreed to focus on mastering the following three delivery tools:

  1. Camtasia
  2. Wiki Spaces
  3. Vitual Meeting Rooms (Elluminate and Adobe Acrobat)

During SY 08-09 each center developed, presented and made plans to distribute a training CD created with Camtasia. These CDs may be used in a variety of ways including distribution as a training package to constituents and accessibility through center websites. Topics covered by each center included:

  • Shared Reading by FDLRS/Crown
  • Disability Awareness by FDLRS/Gateway
  • Assistive Technology Devices by FDLRS/NEFEC
  • Parent Night Presentations: Teacher-Parent Conferences, FCAT for Families, Homework Help by FDLRS/Springs
